Get Your Metabolism Going!

Metabolism: the thing we take for granted until we reach our early 30s and notice we can't eat whatever we want! Everyone seems to think that in order to be skinny you have to eat less! You would think that would be the case buuuut unfortunately it's NOT! Similar to a bicycle, your metabolism needs momentum to work. To get the most out of your metabolism, you need to eat smaller portions more frequently throughout the day.
Tough Love

Tough love. It sure can sting at first! Often times, the first reaction is to withdraw and reject it, but really it can be exactly what you need to help you reach your goals. This was the case with me a week ago when I sent my trainer a weekly update on my progress. I wouldn’t say I had done terribly, but I wasn’t giving 100% either. He noticed. At first, I took his criticism personally and was upset. How did he know if I was committed to my plan or not?! But when I sat down and was honest with myself, I knew he was right.

Although Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow on February 2nd and predicted six more weeks of winter, spring is just around the corner. It is time to get outside and enjoy Spring Sports! Whether it be baseball, soccer, tennis or golf, there is something out there exciting for you child. I am a firm believer in recreational sports and the role it plays in childhood development.
Overcome Emotional Eating

It’s common to comfort yourself with food when you’re sad, stressed, anxious, bored, overwhelmed, depressed, angry— the list goes on. But it helps to have the right approach, tips and techniques to help you discover the real reason you are trying to comfort your “hunger.” Often, our emotional connection to food is due to physical imbalances that lead to cravings and overeating. In other words, we turn to food when we feel unbalanced.
