New Year, New Lips

New Years is around the corner and once midnight strikes you need to be prepared with kissable lips.
When wintertime rolls around, the environmental conditions cause dehydration. Once your lips are dehydrated they start to peel and crack. There are many ways to prevent this by rehydrating, but the next time you decide to put anything on your lips make sure it’s something moisturizing rather than lubricating. I used to apply Chap Stick all day everyday thinking that my chapped lips would get better when really it was getting worse.
Take caution when applying lip balm to your lips because some actually seal moisture out so that lips cannot absorb moisture from the air. Make sure you are using products with Shea, emu butter, and vitamin E oil that are moisturizing.
Lip exfoliating treatments are great for removing the dead skin cells off your lips. Whether you decide to get it professionally done or do it yourself you will have soft smooth lips.
Below I have provided my homemade remedy for a lip exfoliating treatment.
Lip Exfoliating Treatment
Ingredients:
½ tsp. of granulated sugar
½ tsp of honey
1. Combine sugar and honey in a small bowl and mix.
2. Rub the honey and sugar onto your lips for 30 seconds in a light circular motion.
3. Once you're finished rubbing, use a warm washcloth and wipe the blend off.
4. After you have finished, apply a moisturizing product such as Shea, emu butter, or vitamin E oil to your lips.
I do this once a month or before any big event. You can do this more often, but no more than once a week so you avoid over-exfoliating.
Enjoy your New Year’s smoochie!
