Green Tea Toner to Prevent Breakouts

Green Tea Toner to Prevent Breakouts

Whether you’re a newbie at the gym or a gym rat, you might notice breakouts caused by all the sweating you do at the gym.  When your body is sweating it unclogs pores, but once sweat evaporates it leaves behind salt that can clog them again.  Exercising is great for boosting cell renewal, but only if you wash your skin right away to prevent blockages.  Unless you’re one of those lucky girls that get away without wearing makeup, then you probably know about inflammation and breakouts and clogged pores (as a result of exercise).  Because I have combination skin, I make sure to get great quality skincare products that provide me with the ingredients I need to keep my skin balanced.  I really like the product line Osmosis, but one thing I like to do is create my own Green tea toner that I use at night.  Many of you know that green tea has great benefits for your health and either drink it or take the extract for dietary reasons, but did you know that it’s great to use topically on your skin?

iStock_000015945178XSmallUsing Green tea topically is a great antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.  Having a quality antioxidant product applied to your skin is an excellent anti-ager because it helps with scavenging free radicals.  Because of its anti-inflammatory properties, it will also help with acne and rosacea.  Polyphenols oxidize when exposed to air and lose their activity.  Using a green tea as a toner is the best way to go rather than purchasing commercial green tea toners because they you know the actual potency.  Here is how you can make your own green tea toner:

What you will need:
•    Organic Green Tea
•    Water
•    Spray bottle

Make it happen:
1.    Boil 2 cups of water
2.    Add 2 organic green tea bags
3.    Boil the green tea bags for about 2-3 minutes and then let it cool.
4.    Put it in a spray bottle and refrigerate it.

Tips:
•    Put it in a ice cube tray and use the ice cubes as a toner as it starts to thaw.
•    Make a mask out of cotton balls, soak the mask in green tea and remove excess green tea, let it sit on your face 5-10 minutes. You will feel so refreshed.
•    Grab 2 cotton balls, soak it in the green tea, and let it sit on your eyes for 5 minutes.  Perfect for the morning to awaken your beautiful eyes.

Ladies give this a try and get that clear, youthful, and refreshed skin you have always wanted.

Until next time,
