Default Afraid to Die...Obese and not healthy

    Hi Everyone,

I am sick and tired of being fat. I am 5'3" and weigh close to 232lbs. On top of that I am a smoker. I can admit. It is my fault. Ten years ago I was a senior in high school...in cheerleading, weight lifting, and track. Once I left high school I got lazy.

My family history...high blood pressure and diabetes.

So I have decided to start walking and running...eventually just running. I am also thinking about ordering P90x because I am to embarrased to go to the gym right now. I also have the Biggest loser workout dvds that i was thinking I can do for lunch.

Can anyone give me and tips or ideas? Supplements? Protien drinks/shakes? etc...

I would like to lose all weight...the ultimate goal is to have the rock hard body...For right now my short term goal is to lose 2-3lbs per week and tone up...

    Hi there Miss Mags:

YOU are NOT alone. You've come to the right place for great information, encouragement, motivation, and getting healthy and fit.

You're starting off the right way - by putting one foot in front of the other and moving! Way to go! Start slowly and build up. The Biggest Loser DVDs have some kick-butt workouts! P90X is another possibility - just go easy and work at YOUR own pace. It will feel as hard as he** at first, but with time and consistent effort, things WILL get better.

I would encourage you to get a thread started in the "Deary Diary" section of the forum - the "General Journals" section. There are other women who are working darn hard at losing a lot of weight. Leotta, Amme...there are gals that you will really be able to relate to.

Once you get started in the "Dear Diary/General Journals" section, then list what a typical day of eating is like for you. Please don't be afraid to be honest; we can give you the best feedback on your eats that way.

    Welcome!

Welcome to the forums! You will find the girls on here so supportive, knowledgable, and caring! 2-3 lbs a week is a good goal. Remember that diet is HUGE for weight loss. I see a lot of gals work their butts off and diet is so far off track that they don't get the results that they are working so hard for. Make small changes to your diet to clean it up. It takes dedication and consistency. But YOU are in control and is is obtainable!
You are headed in the right track! Congratualtions for that!
The main thing at this stage is to make sure you are eating clean and limit/get rid of those processed foods!
    Hope to follow your progress!

Welcome to the boards and making a positive healthy change in your life. Ditto to what Kimmie and Sandy said, start a thread in the general journals and you will get a lot of help and encouragement. Maybe start by investing in a few sessions with a trainer if you can afford one, if you cant, there are a few of us on here that are trainers, Myself, Kimmie, Sandy. We are all willing and able to help. he only reason I suggest a few sessions to start is that they will guide you and show you the proper form and give you a program to work with. I suggest as Kimmie and zsandy do, starting small, taking one step at a time, by changing one meal at a time, for example if you would normally eat cereal or take out or no breakfast try switching it up for some oatmeal with apple and cinnamon and and egg or 2 on the side. Once you start eating clean you will be amazed at how much food you will be eating. You could try www.fitday.com it is free for the online access and you can track and log your weight, food exercise and goals daily to help you work out where you are going askew. The best thing is that it gives you the calorie count for all your foods, you might be very surprised! In good and bad ways..lol
Good luck, looking forward to helping you with your journey to a fitter sexier you!

Welcome. my sister is in the same boat as you, but she ust started making the changes to get back into shape. Just don't overdo the training at first and the most important thing is not to let yourself beat yourself up. You may have made some unhealthy decisions in the past, but thats the past. Let yourself focus on all the positive changes you are making and give yourself credit for them.
