When my son Connor was younger, he was in the pool at a resort we were staying at, he was getting tired and I told him to swim to his sister, he went in the wrong direction. instead of heading to the side of the pool he headed for the deep end in the middle. All of a sudden he was slipping under the water and popping up as the article says just enough to get a tiny breath but each time he slid under a little more and popped up a little less and yes, it was silent, his arms made the exact motion mentioned in the article above. I had just had surgery the week before and could barely move, I had to scream at his father to jump in shoes and all to save our son. Fortunately I saw it for what it was, and so did his sister and brother who were madly trying to get to him so he wouldn't drown. It looks nothing like the movies, you can barely see a person in the waves who is drowning. I thank God he is alive today, especially as he had been hit by a speeding car 2 weeks before, they were old people driving 20km over the speed limit and were unable to stop at the LIGHTED pedestrian crossing in the middle of the day. Sadly they never even got a fine for speeding because the police felt "sorry for them because they were old" Well I felt sorry for my son they dragged under the car. Connor is a lot more careful on the road and in the pool these days, of course they all knew how to swim, but I took them all back for MORE swimming lessons. If you have kids and are watching them in the water..keep and eye on their fatigue levels. They can get tired very suddenly.
Have a wonderful incident free summer ladies!!
