Thanks! I did intervals for the first time at the gym on the stairs. I can do something like that on the tread. I'm an ex-smoker (I know it's a lame excuse) so cardio is really tough on my lungs. I quit a year and a half ago, but my DR, says I'll be coughing for a while as my lungs repair themselves.

I want to lose weight and tone all over. Should I eat a healthy snack after I work out (cardio/weights) or leave it alone (so won't gain weight)?<<REad an article that says it defeats the purpose of losing weight if you eat a snack afterwards; but didn't say if you were putting the two (cardio/weights) together. Confused. Yes, I make things difficult and don't mean to! ALSO, What all supplements should I be taking? Brand suggestions. Thanks!!

I have always just ate every 2-3 hours, no matter what my training schedule was. My days are never the same. I think it also depends what the healthy snack is? I do my cardio on an empty stomach in the am. As far as supplements, you have to find what you like as far as taste etc. I recommend a women's daily vitamin, glutamine & whey protein for someone trying to loose weight and tone. I love Parrillo products because they have cupcake's, frosting, cookies and brownies that I can eat while dieting for a show. I also take their Muscle Amino & Ultimate Amino's. Hope that helps.

I would be doing all of those exercises as HEAVY as possible. Maybe 4 sets of each 15-20 reps. What about leg press, leg curls, pump lunges, walking lunges, diagnol lunges, reverse lunges on a step, deep duck squats on a 2 platforms, hack squats, reverse hack squats, butt blaster machine. I hope that helps.

Hey Heather! I was looking at Parillo products and they do sound great!! Which flavors do you recommend? They have several to choose from!! Do you use these all the way up to competition or do you cut them out? I cut out all protein powders the week before....

I love their brownies, lemon cookies, chocolate hi-pro, ALL of their bars, chocloate frosting w/ yellow cake mix and their cap-tri on baked potatoes, rice, oatmeal and fish. The joint formula is helping my husband and his achy shoulder. If you get the chew bars put them in the microwave for 5 seconds then eat.

Hi Heather - I'm wondering on the days when I'm really strapped for time and only have about 30-40 mins to work out, should I be concentrating on cardio or weights?
Times like these when I feel I don't have enough time for a complete workout I often just split in half with cardio and half with weights, but I feel like I didn't get anything out of it.
So if I'm trying to slim down should I be doing one over the other and if so, which one or split the time like I've been doing?

You could probably get a little of both in a quick circuit. Set up a few stations using whatever equipment you have, or you can even just set up stations involving body weight exercises. You can do a full body circuit, or just concentrate on lower or upper or whatever you want. And in between stations do some sort of cardio like jumping jacks, running in place, jump rope, burpees, sprint up and down the sidewalk, etc. Packs a pretty good punch in a short amount of time.
Hi Heather! Can weight loss or training effect breastfeeding? I'm worried that losing weight will stop milk production. I had baby 3 weeks ago and am getting ready to return to the gym! So excited!! I have 13lbs to lose to be back to my pre-pregnancy weight and am hoping to do it by June-ish.

Congratulations-13 pounds is nothing-I'm jealous. I continued to workout while breastfeeding my first. Everyone is different so listen to your body.
